Our Lady of
Guadalupe Society celebrating 85th Anniversary
This December, 2011, Our Lady of Guadalupe Society of Sacred
Heart Chapel is marking its 85th year as one of
the oldest existing groups in Lorain, celebrating 84 years of
Novenas to Our Blessed Mother, a Mexican religious tradition
brought by 127 men fleeing the Cristero wars in Mexico during
the 1920s.

will lead this year’s nine day celebration honoring the Virgin
of Guadalupe at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, in
Lorain beginning Saturday, December 3 and concluding on Monday,
December 12 with a mass concelebrated with Bishop
Roger W. Gries, O.S.B., M.Ed., V.G.
Auxiliary Bishop of the Cleveland Diocese. Father
González is from Argentina.
Daily recitations of the Rosary will begin on December 3 at 5:30
p.m. and weekdays at 6:00 p.m., followed by mass and homilies at
6:30 p.m. on December 5, and continuing each day.
The nine day event, known as a “Novena,” has been celebrated by
the Mexican community in Lorain for eighty-four years. Special
features of the Novena this year will be the participation of
the Mariachi Banda Zelaya from Indianapolis, Indiana, to
lead traditional songs and praise to Our Lady of Guadalupe at
12:00 midnight on Sunday, December 11.
A newly formed group of Aztec Dancers, “Tonantzi,” from Sacred
Heart Chapel, Lorain Ohio will perform traditional indigenous
dances of Mexico at the Monday mass. The Feast of Our Lady of
Guadalupe is celebrated throughout Mexico and Latin America
during the month of December with
moving and colorful cultural events that express the deep faith
of the Mexican and Latin American church. The event is
open to the public.

de Guadalupe Celebra el 85th Aniversario
En diciembre La Sociedad de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de la
Capilla del Sagrado Corazón cumple 85th años como una
de las mas antiguas sociedades religiosas de Lorain todavía en
existencia en Lorain, celebrando 84 años de Novenas a Nuestra Madre
Santísima, una tradiciόn religiosa mexicana traida por 127 hombres
que estaban huyendo de la Guerra de los Cristeros en Mexico durante
los años de los 1920s.
Padre Jorge Gonzalez de Nuestra Señora de Monte de Carmelo de Cleveland,
Ohio oficiará los nueve dias de la novena en
honor a la Virgen de Guadalupe en la Capilla del Sagrado Corazón
4301 Pearl Avenue, en Lorain empezando el sábado, diciembre 3. El
Padre Gonzalez es de Argentina. La Novena se termina el 12 de
diciembre con misa concelebrada por el Reverendo Obispo
Roger W. Gries, Obispo Auxiliar de la
Diócesis de Cleveland.
El Rosario recitado empezará el 3 de diciembre a las 5:30 p.m. y
durante la semana a las 6:00 p.m., seguido por misa y la homilía a
las 6:30 p.m. desde el 5 de diciembre, y continuará el resto de la
novena.
Este evento se conoce como
“Novena,” y ha sido celebrado por la comunidad mexicana de Lorain
por ochenta y cuatro años. Este año durante la Novena tendremos la

medianoche del domingo 11 de diciembre. El grupo de danzantes
aztecas, “Tonantzi,” de la Capilla del Sagrado Corazón, Lorain,
Ohio realizará danzas indígenas tradicionales de México después de
la misa del lunes 12 de diciembre y terminado con una suculenta
comida mexicana.
Esta
celebración a nuestra Señora de Guadalupe se celebra en México y
América Latina durante el més de diciembre con los acontecimientos
culturales que expresan la fé profunda del mexicano y toda
Latinoamerica.
