Exhibition Spotlights Master Mexican Artist Francisco Toledo
March 5, 2010: Influenced by surrealism and a deep knowledge of
printmaking techniques,
contemporary Mexican artist Francisco Toledo melds the
human, animal and natural worlds
in his evocative works.
Mexico’s Toledo, a free
exhibition on view March 12–May 9 in Gallery 18, features the
work of Toledo, whom many consider to be the most important
Latino artist of his generation. The exhibition includes prints
and two of the artist’s small bronze
sculptures. Many works have never been seen publicly
before. |

Featured are works borrowed from the collection of Harold and
Mary Douthit of Sandusky. There also are loaned works from local
collectors Felix Sampayo, Jerry Runkle and Mary Dawson, and
works from the Museum’s collection. Because of the exhibition’s
adult content, viewer discretion is advised.
